About the Autism Strategy Action Plan

The Autism Strategy Action Plan document.

This is our Autism Strategy Action Plan.

We just call it the plan.

A thought bubble, a smiley face, a speech bubble and a handshake.

Autism can affect how you:

  • think
  • feel
  • communicate
  • understand people.

the Autism Strategy 2024–2029 document.

The plan explains what we will do to achieve the goals in our Autism Strategy 2024–2029.

A strategy is a government plan for how to do things in the future.

We created the plan with:

2 Autistic people pointing to themselves and smiling.

  • Autistic people

A person supporting someone.

  • families and carers.

A speech bubble with an autism icon in it.

We asked people in the Autistic community what words they prefer to use to talk about themselves.

A speech bubble that says 'Autistic people' next to a tick.

Many people told us they prefer the words Autistic people.

We use these words in the Autism Strategy Action Plan.

A person pointing to themself below a speech bubble. Next to them is an arrow that is splitting off in 3 directions.

But we understand that each person might prefer different words for themselves.

A calendar that says 2025 with an arrow pointing to a calendar that says 2029.

We will use the plan from 2025 to 2029.

A clipboard with a tick and a list on it next to a calendar with an arrow pointing right on it.

We will keep working on some of the actions after 2029.
