Our Work

In South Australia, thousands of people with disability enrich our communities, contributing their skills, ideas, and talents in workplaces, schools, and daily life. However, not everyone experiences the same level of inclusion.

Using new and better ways to support accessibility and inclusion helps everyone take part equally in society.

The Disability Inclusion Act 2018 (SA) is designed to promote and uphold the human rights of people with disability and supports their full participation in society through greater social connection and inclusion.

The Act supports the goals of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) and interacts with Australia's Disability Strategy 2021–2031 and state initiatives, including the State Disability Inclusion Plan (State Plan) and the SA Autism Strategy.

The Minister for Human Services is responsible for overseeing the Act, leading reforms through the State Plan and Disability Access and Inclusion Plans (DAIPs), which are implemented by State Government agencies and local councils.
